Must-Visit LA Sitcom Locations

The building used for the exterior shots of Reno 911’s “Washoe County Sherriff’s Department” is actually this Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department in Carson.

Phil and Claire's house on the groundbreaking sitcom series is just one of the gorgeous abodes featured. Even though the sitcom is on ABC, the Dunphys live just a few blocks away from Fox Studios. Of course, there's at least one "Modern Family" actor who used to star in a long-running Fox sitcom about another modern family from the '80s!

A host of restless spooks called this “Murder House” from Season 1 of American Horror Story home, heaping added stress upon the already troubled Harmon family. The real horror story is how the house shot up in price just because the show was filmed there—from $4.5 million in 2011 to $17 million in 2012. Frightening.

Sorry "Sunny" fans, but the building used for the exterior shots of Paddy's Pub (meant to be in a "scary alley" in South Philly) is actually in L.A. Word is, though, that the bar may be inspired by an actual South Philly waterhole called the Shamrock Pub.

This Victorian-style house is elegant in an old-fashioned way and its Old World charm seems to fit the witch-themed show perfectly. Called the Halliwell Manor in the show it has a fancy name in real life - christened the Innes House. If you plan on seeing the Pied Piper headquarters in the HBO series "Silicon Valley," do not go to Palo Alto! Even though the address in Palo Alto is real it is not the film location in the show. Silicon Valley is located in Northern California but the show was filmed almost entirely in Los Angeles County. 

Located in the East San Fernando Valley, this humble home is where coworkers Blake, Adam, and Anders live together in the Comedy Central show. The characters live in Rancho Cucamonga which is about an hour east of Van Nuys. Unlike other film locations this one is apparently owned by the studio. Thus, you can actually book tours and stay at the house.

A fictional Northern California town was recreated in Los Angeles, CA. You wouldn't know that this was a filming location for a famous TV series but this is where Jax and his motorcycle gang carried out their wheelings and dealings. Chandler Valley Center Studios in East San Fernando Valley is also known as the fictional paper company from the hit TV comedy series. While you won't see any celebrities here, you'll probably meet up with plenty of like-minded folks, other "The Office" buffs who want to take selfies in front of the locked gate. 

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was one of those groundbreaking Gen X shows of the 1990s. Buffy is the girl-next-door who also happens to kick evil creature-butt. The completely suburban house is set in quiet Sunnydale. The address number, 1313, over the front porch can be seen in a couple of episodes even though Buffy and her mother supposedly live on 1630 Revello Drive. 

This is the Victorian-style house used as the exterior for Fisher and Son’s Funeral Home. The seriously somber interior scenes of the home, though, were shot on a set built in studio.

One of the funniest couples in TV history, Cam and Mitch raise Lily (and cat Larry) in this Spanish-style abode. The real house is in an attractive part of Los Angeles, Century City to be exact. One discrepancy seem to be the type of residence - in the show, Cam and Mitch live in a duplex, but IRL it seems to be a single-family home. Let us know if you solve the mystery!

Nancy Botwin and her family move into this seaside home in the town of Ren Mar, but in reality it is in Manhattan Beach. The filming location isn't the only attraction here; Manhattan Beach is a popular place for locals and travelers to spend the day. While you're there, visit the aquarium and cafe at the end of the pier. There's also a boardwalk where you can walk or ride a bike from beach to beach. 

The dank and sultry vampire bar of HBO's was set in Shreveport, Louisiana, but the filming location was in the seaside city of Long Beach. Alex's Bar is known as a local small venue for punk rock and other genres. You can buy tickets for different events on the website. While they don't serve Tru Blood, you can get your choice of 21 beers on tap.

An attractive, Spanish-style building in Los Feliz is where the residents of Melrose Place lived out their romantic dramas on nighttime TV in the 90s and then again in 2009. This gorgeous beach house was designed by architect Steve Giannetti who loves to combine modern and classical styles to make his unique structures. As the setting for the hit Netflix show this house is flocked to by tourists in Malibu. It last sold for $15 million in 2006.
