Orange Spring Mound

Flowing from several vents, the vivid colors of Orange Spring Mound come from the heat-loving bacteria living in the water. These thermophiles are grouped together by the trillions and are seen by the naked eye as masses of color. To allow the travertine to develop more freely, the road was recently moved further away from the spring. You'll enjoy Orange Spring Mound's isolation; it's hidden in the back of Upper Terrace Drive.
