Golden Thai Pavillion

This Southeast Asian canopy made its way halfway across the world to its home at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. It was built in Thailand then taken apart and packed in crates for its journey to the Western Hemisphere. Made of teak, one of the best and most expensive hardwoods, this ornate structure was built to withstand the harsh Wisconsin climate. It is placed in the midst of a fragrant Thai tropical garden and is one of only four outside of Thailand that bears the seal of the Thai Royal Crown. The other three are in Germany, Norway, and Hawaii.
