West Virginia State Penitentiary

It is just about the prettiest prison in the nation - a gothic-style structure that is more akin to a palace than a penitentiary. But the beautiful exterior hid a house of horrors where prisoners were routinely and violently victimized by other prisoners and guards. It got the dubious honor of being on the DOJs list of top 10 most violent prisons in the country. It's closed down for inmates and opened up for visitors who can see the cells and electric chair. And...with 36 murders that took place within its walls one would be surprised if this prison wasn't haunted!
