Falling Waters Waterfall

If you're in the vicinity, this miniature waterfall is worth a stop. At 15 feet high, it's not the most imposing waterfall ever, but the surroundings are very picturesque. It's more historic than scenic - Union troops fought here in the Battle of Falling Waters. There's no sign of this violent skirmish now, only trickling waters and a peaceful forest. To reach the parking area from Interstate 81, take the Spring Mills Exit (Exit 20) to West Virginia State Route 901 East. Turn left on U.S. Route 11 North, then right on Encampment Road. Watch for and park at a historical marker to your left. The waterfall is just steps down the dirt path from the parking area. (Submitted by Roxanne Mohr)
