Blackwater Falls

Saves: 35
Check-ins: 4
Named for its onyx waters, these falls are colored by the tannin released from the hemlock leaves and spruce needles shed by the trees that line the river. This is one of the most photographed areas in the state but you don't have to do a lot of work to get there - the falls are easily accessed by a moderate hiking path and concrete stairs that guide you most of the way.

Lots of stairs on the trail by the visitor center but there’s a rest landing with a beautiful view. This trail takes you pretty close and at about mid height of the falls. There’s a rainbow in the bottom right corner of the photo. For those not wishing to do stairs there’s a road that takes you to a short mostly level trail with resting benches above the falls level with a nice view.
