The Museum of Transportation's collection includes a wide range of transportation vehicles and artifacts, including steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars, trolley cars, buses, and automobiles. Some of the highlights of the collection include the Class J 611 steam locomotive, which was built in 1950 and is considered one of the finest examples of steam locomotive engineering; the Norfolk and Western Railway 1218 steam locomotive which is one of the largest steam locomotives ever built; and the Wabash F7 diesel locomotive, which was built in 1951 and is one of the most iconic examples of mid-century American design.
