This grand residence is a prime example of George F. Barber's renowned mail-order-plan houses, which are scattered throughout the country. This particular house falls under the category of the opulent "Classical Colonial" models, custom-designed by Barber and his associate Thomas A. Kluttz for their clients during the early 20th century. Here, Barber moved away from his charming Queen Anne designs, venturing into the realm of imposing classical mansions characterized by their immense proportions.
