Although Canada may have something to say about this some of the best maple syrup in the world is collected in Vermont. This museum gives you the entire history of maple syrup - from its use by indigenous people to the boom in production in the late 1900s. In the early 1900s, the U.S. was the number one producer of maple syrup but Canada rapidly outpaced the U.S. after its spike in popularity. Another interesting fact: 40 gallons of sap makes only 1 gallon of syrup! Don't forget to stop by the store where you can buy any type of foodstuffs made with the sweet amber liquid.
