Fun fact, Park Avenue Viewpoint is named after the towering sandstone spires that resemble the skyscrapers of New York City's Park Avenue. The most notable features are the series of parallel sandstone fins that stretch across the landscape, towering up to 150 feet high. These fins are the result of millions of years of erosion where water and wind have slowly eroded the softer rock layers, leaving behind the more resistant sandstone fins. You can follow a paved trail that winds down through the canyon, surrounded by towering walls of red sandstone that leads to a viewpoint overlooking Courthouse Towers, a collection of sandstone spires that are some of the most recognizable features in the park.
