The site features several historic buildings, including the Tipton-Haynes House, built in 1784 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was once the home of Colonel John Tipton, a Revolutionary War hero and one of the founding fathers of Tennessee. The house has been restored to its original 18th-century appearance with period furnishings and artifacts on display. Other buildings on the site include the Carter County Log Cabin which was built in the early 19th century and was once a popular stopping point for travelers on the Great Wagon Road. There's also a reconstructed Blacksmith Shop, demonstrating the important role that blacksmiths played in early American life. (Submitted by Anthony Von Plinsky)
