Newport Sea Lion Docks

If you love marine mammals, this is the place for you! This little haven harbors a colony of male California sea lions, whose barking can be heard at all times of the year except July. In fact, the locals call July "quiet summer nights" due to their absence while they make their way down south to the California Channel Islands to mate with the females who live year-round there. After their fun vacation, they head back up to the docks in August. So, if you want to see the sea lions, make sure you plan your visit before July or after the first week of August!
