First Presbyterian Church

The gorgeous Gothic-style church features century-old stained glass windows and church bells cast with bronze from Civil War cannons. The congregation was started in 1854, although the church was completed in 1890. The base of the church covers roughly an 85-by-140 foot space and the spire is 185-feet tall. The arresting texture of the exterior is due to the rusticated black basalt framed by a lighter sandstone trim. Services are still held at the church; see the website for the schedule.
