Umbrella Alley

Umbrellas of different colors,suspended in midair provide vibrancy and vitality to the downtown Louisville area. Inspired by Agueda, Portugal where hundreds of umbrellas are hung over the promenades as part of a summer art festival. Louisville's version has brought tens of thousands of people to an area that was in dire need of attention. Just 185 umbrellas have spurred business growth and a renewed interest in public art; temporary murals are displayed on the walls of the alley. (Submitted by Ashley Ray)
