Mount Mitchell State Park

Mount Mitchell State Park near Burnsville, NC is one of the oldest state parks in North Carolina and home to the highest peak east of the Mississippi River, Mount Mitchell. Standing at 6,684 feet, the summit provides awe-inspiring views of the Appalachian Mountains and the Blue Ridge region. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the challenging Mount Mitchell Trail or take a more leisurely stroll along the Balsam Nature Trail, which showcases the area's diverse flora and fauna.
