Little Switzerland Tunnel

Check-ins: 5
One of 26 tunnels built along 469-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway, this vehicle thoroughfare measures 547 feet long. Built circa the 1930s, this one is typical of the older tunnels with the finished stone masonry around the entrance and exit. Newer tunnels along the route had the natural exposed rock exposed. These tunnels were built into the mountainside to keep landscaping and cutting into the rock at a minimum. The Little Switzerland Tunnel can be found at Milepost 333.4.
