Linville Caverns

Saves: 44
Check-ins: 7
A place of natural history and American history, the Linville Caverns were first discovered in 1822 by fisherman. They subsequently became popular amongst locals and at some point were used as a hideout for Civil War deserters. Bats make their home in these cave although they are infected with White Nose Syndrome (which is not dangerous to humans). Because of this, you will be asked to partake in a cleansing regimen after the tour to prevent the spread of the disease to other bats. (Photo by Keri)
