1897 Poe House

The 1897 Poe House got its name because it was built in 1897 and it was where the E.A. Poe family lived. However, it's important to note that Mr. E.A. Poe was a local businessman who owned the Poe Brick Company, and he wasn't the famous writer known for spooky stories. The house's ownership was in the name of his wife, Josephine Montague Poe, who originally came from Wake County and married Poe in 1880.
