The Great Falls of the Passaic River is one of the largest waterfalls in the U.S. measuring 77 feet high or 23 meters. The falls and the surrounding area are protected as part of the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. The falls played a large role in the early industrial development of New Jersey and it's been designated as a National Historic Landmark District since 1976.
