Mississippi Petrified Forest

Although located on private property, this prehistoric forest is open to the public for tours. Formed 36 million years ago, it is one of only two petrified forests in the United States. Also on display at the museum are examples of petrified wood from other regions as well as dinosaur fossils and footprints.
