George Floyd Square

Saves: 7
Check-ins: 9
Dedicated to the man whose death sparked a historic movement, this is the intersection where police officer Derek Chauvin restrained George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes and for which he was convicted of Floyd's murder. The square was named on May 26, 2020 and was blocked off for over a year to allow for occupation protests. It is currently open to traffic and has the indelible raised fist sculpture in the middle of East 38th and Chicago Avenue. (Submitted by Steph R)

It’s a memorial. A lot of reminders of the hate. People need to treat everyone the way you treat your grandma.
