Springfield Armory

This is a must-see for those who have a deep interest in military weapons. For almost 200 years - from 1777 to 1968 - this was the main location for the manufacture of military firearms. Although it no longer churns out weapons, it's one of the best museums to see historic guns and ammo. Every so often Civil War buffs reenact battles and demonstrate the firing of these antique relics. The museum is located on the Springfield Technical Community College campus and is free to visitors.
