Canal Lockhouse 44

This splendid lockhouse was inhabited by the lockkeeper. It was still a difficult life for the lockkeeper who had to tend the locks at all hours of the day or during the wee hours of the morning. Granted, the lockkeeper and family lived rent-free on the canal with gorgeous surroundings. This is a great area to walk around - and don't be surprised if you see several turtles crawling around during the warmer months! (Submitted by Roxanne Mohr)
