Chalmette Battlefield

The most distinguishing features on this site of the 1815 Battle of New Orleans are the reconstructed rampart and 1830s house and the 100-foot-high Chalmette monument. It's a great educational place with self-guided tours, daily ranger talks, and a visitor center rich with information. Don't miss the Chalmette National Cemetery which is the final resting place of more than 14,000 Americans who fought in conflicts from the War of 1812 to Vietnam.
