Description:
The Quindaro Ruins is a historic site located in Kansas City, KS. It was once a thriving town in the mid-19th century and served as an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Today, the site is a designated National Historic Landmark and has become a popular destination for history buffs and tourists alike. Quindaro was founded in 1856 by abolitionists who sought to establish a free state in Kansas. The town was located on the banks of the Missouri River. Many slaves seeking freedom crossed the river from Missouri and made their way to Quindaro before continuing on to other destinations in the North.
