The Day The Music Died Memorial

Saves: 17
Check-ins: 14
This spot is where rock 'n' roll legends Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and JP Richardson died when their Bonanza airplane crashed in 1959. The giant farming field is privately owned but the locals and farmers seem to not mind that people want to pay their respects to the musicians who helped to shape rock. To get there drive on Gull Ave. You'll see a giant pair of Buddy Holly-style glasses marking the way to the crash site in the middle of the field. Find a safe place to park and walk the rest of the way to the memorial site (the ground will be very muddy, so wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty). (Photo by Traveling Lower48)
