River Plaza Building Goddesses

The eight-foot-tall green goddesses, representing Industry, Agriculture, Justice, Knowledge, Science, and Peace, have traveled around Iowa. They were originally constructed in the 1940s from repurposed scrap metal that had been used for the war effort. They first graced the top of a courthouse, then Peace was transferred to Upper Iowa University. The other four were perched on top of the River Plaza in 1986.
