Craters of the Moon Preserve

With its gunpowder-colored plains etched with deep scars this preserve looks like a forgotten alien world. But…it's in Idaho, USA - just about as apple pie as you can get. This desolate landscape is a dormant volcano and the black, tarry expanse is floody basalt formed by lava.
