Kaihalulu Red Sand Beach

Just south of Hana Bay, you'll find a secret beach called Red Sand Beach (Kaihalulu). The beach formed from the remnants of a volcano's red cinder cone as it crumbled. Lava rock walls protect the beach from the fury of the ocean waves before they crash upon the sand. Swimming and snorkeling are possible in this small bay in calm water (if you avoid the lava rock borders and don't venture beyond them). This beach is also known unofficially as a clothing-optional beach.
