Description:

This crescent-shaped beach is a popular destination for snorkelers, scuba divers, boogie boarders, surfers, body surfers, and sunbathers. Its salt and pepper sands, comprised of a blend of lava and coral, stretch 900 feet long and 100 feet deep at the foot of a ridge of majestic black lava cliffs. The beach is unprotected by natural barriers, so is subject to rip currents. For this reason, snorkelers should stick close to the left side (which is calmer) and to only venture into the waters during the gentler summer months. Lush foliage surrounding the beach provides plenty of shade, and restroom/shower facilities are also conveniently available.
