Description:

This historic bridge has the distinction of being built by a Cherokee chief. In 1820 George Welch constructed this covered wooden bridge here on the Etowah River. He remained here until the Cherokee Removal of 1838. The quite park and pretty country setting make a nice backdrop for picnics, reunions, or just a nice outing.
