Bell Mountain Observation Deck

On February 18, 2016 the generous donation of the 18-acre Bell Mountain Summit by the Hal Herrin Estate led to the establishment of Bell Mountain Park and Historical Site in Towns County. In recognition of Hal Herrin's contribution, a remarkable observation deck was constructed and officially designated as the Hal Herrin Scenic Overlook. Subsequently, the County undertook further developments, including the paving of the road and the creation of a parking area. Additionally, a second platform was erected, reaching an elevation of 3424 feet, providing breathtaking 360-degree views of the encompassing lake and mountains. (Submitted by Rebecca Ostlund)
