Description:
The “A World Apart” Monument in Savannah is a World War II memorial dedicated in 2010 to honor veterans from Chatham County who served and died in the conflict. Designed by architect Eric Meyerhoff, the monument features a split bronze-and-copper globe symbolizing the war’s European and Pacific theaters. Located along River Street, it also reflects Savannah’s key role during WWII as a shipbuilding and supply port, with the names of 527 fallen service members inscribed within the structure.
