The Lone Sailor

The statue was installed in 1988, commemorating the relationship between Jacksonville and the U.S. Navy. You may hear it referred to as "Liberty Hound" which is sailor slang for shore leave. Located on the south side of St. John's River, the statue is within walking distance of Riverwalk and the Museum of Science and History. (Submitted by Jose Medrano)
