Visitors are invited to step into the lives of two sea captains, their families, and ancestors as you pass through the grand front entrance of the Captain Nathaniel B. Palmer House. Upon entering, you may feel compelled to ascend to the top floor and gaze upon Stonington Harbor from the magnificent cupola. However, the lower floors of the museum hold a wealth of discoveries. There, you can closely examine the model of Palmer's sloop Hero and envision his exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula at the tender age of 21 aboard his modest 47-foot sailboat. The museum also showcases numerous other model ships, dollhouses, and period textiles, offering a fascinating glimpse into maritime history.
