Pikes Peak Summit

The highest summit of the Rocky Mountains' southern Front Range rises 14,115 feet and was once home to the Ute people. The rose color comes from the pink granite specifically called Pikes Peak granite and probably started its formation 1.5 billion years ago. You can hike, bike, or drive to the summit - driving obviously being the easiest. Don't feel bad for taking the easy route - the drive is very scenic but it is lengthy at 19 miles. Have money on hand - it's a toll road!
