Description:

The Minkler Cash Store in Sanger, California, began in 1892 when pioneer Charles Ozro Minkler built a small general store that became the center of the tiny community that took his name. In 1920, Ozro built a larger building that sold everything from groceries and gasoline to ice cream and bait, and it even served as the local post office for many years. The business stayed in the Minkler family until the 1940s and was later run by Grace Russell and then Silvia Ashcraft; today it’s owned by Mary Novack, who continues to preserve its historic charm and tradition of only accepting cash.
