Description:
Frog Woman Rock is a striking volcanic monolith located along the Russian River near Hopland, California. Revered by the Pomo people, it is traditionally known as Bi-tsin’ ma-ca Ka-be, or "Frog Woman Rock," and is associated with the powerful mythological figure Frog Woman, consort of Coyote in Pomo lore . In 2011, the site’s official name was changed from the derogatory "Squaw Rock" to honor its cultural significance and the efforts of Pomo elders and advocates.
