Description:
The Berta's Ranch Covered Bridge, built in 1936, spans the Elk River just south of Eureka, California, and is the westernmost covered bridge in the United States. Constructed from native redwood in a Queen post truss design, the 52-foot bridge is the oldest remaining covered bridge in Humboldt County. Its design inspired a nearly identical structure, the Zane's Ranch Covered Bridge, built a year later nearby. Both bridges reflect early 20th-century rural engineering and remain cherished historical landmarks in the region.
