Description:

Barbara’s Fishtrap in Half Moon Bay got its start in 1978, when Barbara Walsh leased the old Hazel’s Restaurant building, renamed it Paul & Barbara’s Fishtrap, and later dropped “Paul” after his death. The location was itself rich in history, as Hazel’s had been a seafood restaurant, bait shop, and fish market since 1942, and had withstood a tidal wave in 1946 before eventually closing in 1977. Over the years Barbara’s has become beloved for its thick, clam-filled chowder (served also in a sourdough bowl) and its fried seafood classics, especially the fish & chips and the Mini Fishtrap Tempura plate of mixed seafood.
