It looks like a modern art sculpture but this smooth, crested formation is all natural! Made of sandstone, it was in the making 6 to 15 million years ago! Hole in the Rock is also a short distance from other not-so-natural landmarks such as the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and the Children's Museum of Phoenix. (Submitted by Guillermo Arce)

The hike to the top is in the back of the rock just follow the trail. Multiple parking spots available. The hike to the hole is short. Dog friendly. If traveling with dog bring dog shoes as the rocks can be harsh of dog paws. Recommend to have dog on leash.
