Born in 1860 in Saginaw, Michigan, English, a graduate in law, relocated to Tombstone in 1880. Initially employed as a miner, he later became a partner in the Smith & Goodrich law firm. Over the years, he served three terms as the Cochise County District Attorney. English's remarkable blend of flamboyance, roguish charm, and undeniable talent elevated him to the status of a highly influential attorney in his era. Despite his reputation as a heavy drinker, he often indulged in frequent breaks during courtroom proceedings to recover from hangovers at the local taverns. English's colorful life came to an end in 1937. (Submitted by Mickaline Shroyer)
