Welcome to Ketchikan Sign

Derived from the Tlingit tongue, the town of Ketchikan is notable for several things. It has established itself as the earliest incorporated city in Alaska. As a port town, it enjoys a lucrative position along cruise line itineraries. The name itself even has a nice ring to it and arches over Mission Street in the downtown area, calling attention in bright red letters. Also noted on the sign is its status as the Salmon Capital of the World. The sign is best viewed at night when visitors can see the letters brightly lit in neon red.
