Description:
The Bright Star Restaurant opened in 1907 as a small 12 seat bar in Bessemer and grew into what is widely considered Alabama’s oldest continuously operating restaurant. Over the years it expanded under the care of its founding Greek American family, evolving into a treasured local landmark known for blending Greek and Southern flavors. Popular dishes include Greek style snapper, seafood gumbo, tenderloin prepared with Greek seasonings, and the famous fried snapper throats that became a signature item in the 1930s.
